Wired glass is also known as shatterproof glass. It is made by heating ordinary flat glass to a red hot softening state, and then pressing the preheated iron wire or wire mesh into the middle of the glass. Its characteristic is superior fire resistance, can block flames, does not explode during high-temperature combustion, and does not cause debris to harm people when broken. In addition, there is anti-theft performance, such as glass cutting and wire mesh blocking. Mainly used for roof skylights and balcony windows, Glass product   .

Basic Introduction

Wired glass, also known as shatterproof glass and steel wire glass. In the rolling production process, a special type of glass is formed by pressing the wire mesh into a semi liquid glass strip. The advantage is that the strength of glass is higher than that of ordinary glass. When the glass is subjected to impact or temperature fluctuations, it can break without missing, crack without scattering, and avoid small fragments of edges and corners from flying out and injuring people. For example, when a fire spreads and the wire glass is heated and cracked, it can still maintain a fixed state, playing a role in isolating the fire, so it is also known as fire-resistant glass. The disadvantage is that during the production process, the wire mesh is prone to oxidation due to high temperature radiation, and there is a possibility of yellow and bubble like "rust spots" appearing on the glass surface. Wired glass is commonly used in skylights, ceilings, and doors and windows that are prone to vibration.

Characteristics

Fire resistance

Even if the wire glass is broken, the wire or mesh can still support the fragments, making it difficult to collapse and break. Even when the flame penetrates, it can block the invasion of flame and fire powder, which has the effect of preventing diffusion and burning from the opening.

According to Article 64 of the Japanese Building Standards Law, regulations are made for fire doors. The opening of the outer wall must prevent the spread and burning of flames. The combination of wired glass and the frame of type B fireproof door can be used as type B fireproof material.

Security

Wired glass can prevent fragments from flying apart. Even when encountering external pressures such as earthquakes, storms, and impacts that cause glass to break, it is difficult for fragments to fly away, so compared to ordinary glass, it is less likely to cause fragments to fly away and harm people.

Burglar resistance

Ordinary glass is easy to break, so thieves can infiltrate and engage in illegal activities, while wired glass is not. Even if the glass is broken, there is still a metal wire mesh at work, so thieves cannot easily steal. The anti-theft properties of wired glass bring a sense of psychological security to people.

Due to the presence of metal wires or mesh inside the glass body, the overall integrity of the glass is greatly improved. Avoiding overall collapse during damage has a certain fire prevention and safety effect. The disadvantage of wired glass is its poor perspective, as there is a wire mesh inside, which interferes with the visual effect to a certain extent. Secondly, the exposed metal wires at the edges of the glass are prone to corrosion. The safety of wire and mesh glass is reflected in maintaining its integrity when damaged, and the fragments of glass will not disperse under the traction of the wire, reducing harm to the human body. It can be used in skylights, roofs, indoor partitions, and other situations where debris can easily cause injury. In addition, due to the difficulty of wire mesh glass penetrating, it also has a certain anti-theft effect when used for door and window glass. Sandwich glass can also be used as a secondary fireproof material for doors and windows. Ordinary glass is prone to cracking and falling due to heat during a fire, causing air flow and fire spread.
