Frosted glass, also known as ground glass or dark glass, is a semi transparent glass with a rough and uneven surface treated by mechanical sandblasting, manual grinding (such as diamond grinding), or chemical methods (such as hydrofluoric acid etching) on ordinary flat glass. Usually used on doors and windows in offices and bathrooms, glass in other rooms can also be used,  Glass product  .

characteristic

Due to the rough surface of frosted glass, light is diffusely reflected and transmitted without perspective: after being reflected through frosted glass, light is emitted in all directions (because the surface of frosted glass is not a smooth plane, causing diffuse reflection), and refracted onto the retina, which is already an incomplete image, making it impossible to see what is behind the glass. It can make indoor lighting soft and not harsh.

When transparent tape is applied to frosted glass, its surface becomes flat again, and light can be fully reflected. Therefore, it presents a complete image on the retina, allowing the eyes to see objects again. In addition, wiping the frosted glass with a damp cloth can also make it clear.

advantage

(1) Good sound insulation effect: When manufacturing soundproof glass, frosted glass can be used to produce it, because frosted glass has good sound insulation effects. If frosted glass is used to produce soundproof glass, the produced soundproof glass has a good effect. When producing soundproof glass, frosted glass is often used to produce soundproof glass, but as more glass is produced, Only then did frosted glass be replaced by other products.

(2) High level of safety: Frosted glass belongs to a type of safety glass, which is very safe to use and effectively ensures personal safety. Glass is a fragile product that can easily break under external forces, making it unsafe to use. If the glass is damaged, it also increases the cost for users. However, using frosted glass not only effectively solves safety issues, but also has a relatively low price and a longer usage time.

(3) Privacy protection: frosted glass appears on the surface, making it difficult to see the interior clearly, giving a very blurry feeling and ensuring the privacy of the room. Although it may appear blurry on the surface, when viewed from the inside out, it is clear and does not affect the lighting, and the indoor lighting is also very good.

shortcoming

(1) Frosted glass cannot be further cut or reprocessed. It can only be processed to the desired shape during processing and then tempered.

(2) Although frosted glass has stronger strength than ordinary glass, it has the possibility of self explosion when the temperature difference changes greatly, while ordinary glass does not have the possibility of self explosion.

(3) The surface of frosted glass may have unevenness and slight thinning of thickness. Therefore, frosted glass cannot be used as a mirror.
