With the improvement of people's requirements for quality of life, higher configurations and more perfect experiences are also required in the selection of door and window glass. As a result, laminated insulating glass has become the pursuit of many home decoration door and window performance consumers. So today, Gecko Jun will talk about laminated glass with everyone,  Glass product   .

1. What is laminated glass

Laminated glass (also known as laminated glass or explosion-proof glass) is a composite glass product composed of two or more pieces of float glass sandwiched between them with a strong and tough PVB (ethylene polymer butyrate) adhesive film, which is pressed by a hot press to exhaust the intermediate air. Then, it is placed in a high-pressure steam kettle to dissolve a small amount of residual air into the adhesive film using high temperature and pressure.

In addition to PVB, laminated glass intermediate membranes also include SGP (ionic intermediate membrane), EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer), etc.

2. Advantages of laminated glass

★ Safety

The transparency of PVB film can reach over 90%, and the refractive index is almost the same as that of glass; It does not harden above -50 ℃, and has good bonding performance at 130-140 ℃. At this temperature, the glass is pressed with high pressure to firmly bond with the intermediate layer material. Therefore, laminated glass has high strength, elasticity, and penetration resistance, and can withstand huge impact forces.

★ Sound insulation

If laminated glass is compared with insulating glass, the order of sound insulation performance from high to low is: double laminated insulating glass>laminated insulating glass>insulating glass. The medium to low frequency noise that cannot be solved by insulating glass can be effectively solved by laminated glass. This is because the PVB membrane between laminated glass can hinder and buffer glass vibration, block noise propagation, and especially provide perfect insulation for medium to low frequency noise.

★ Energy saving

Laminated glass has inherent UV resistance, and the PVB film can absorb over 99% of UV radiation. The principle is to absorb UV radiation through organic UV absorbers and organic UV blockers in the PVB film, converting UV radiation into heat energy loss. Through inorganic UV reflectors, it can reflect and scatter UV radiation, By adding "vanadium" to reduce the shading coefficient, it has the function of energy conservation and color change. Therefore, when sunlight directly shines on a colorless laminated glass, the PVB intermediate film can absorb some of the heat and only transfer a portion of it indoors, thereby maintaining indoor temperature and saving air conditioning consumption.

3. Applicable scenarios for laminated glass

The three most common situations for installing laminated insulated glass doors and windows in home decoration are as follows:

1. The home is a mid to high rise building, and the standard choice for exterior doors and windows is tempered insulated glass. However, consumers consider the risk of glass self explosion and add laminated glass for safety reasons.

2. In order to improve the sound insulation effect of doors and windows in noisy areas such as streets, roads, and elevated buildings, the insulated glass has been upgraded to insulated laminated glass.

3. The city in which you are located is not a city with a suitable climate for all seasons. Your home needs to have a closed sunlight room with glass on the top and no suspended ceiling. In order to improve the insulation performance, the standard laminated glass on the top has been added with hollow laminated glass.

4. Select common questions

★ Color changes

When using laminated insulating glass at home, due to the overall thickness of the glass, there may be problems with low light transmittance and green tinting of the entire glass. Especially when replacing laminated insulating glass throughout the house, it may feel uncoordinated compared to other glass.

And pay attention to the significant difference in color between Low-e glass and double white glass laminated glass after being made into laminated glass. Therefore, when consumers choose to purchase, it is best to ask the merchant if they have a physical comparison to see their acceptance level. When making glass configurations, it is best not to have too much difference in the glass configurations of doors and windows in the same space.

★ Performance selection

When there are higher requirements for thermal insulation in the home (the K value of hollow laminated glass is similar to that of hollow glass), it is recommended to first add single silver Low-e, followed by double silver Low-e, third argon gas, then warm the edges, and finally three silver for hollow laminated glass.
