With the increasing size of doors and windows in modern houses, the requirements for thermal insulation of doors and windows have also correspondingly increased. As summer approaches, the role of energy-saving glass becomes more apparent. Let's learn about energy-saving windows together.

1. Introduction to energy-saving glass

Energy saving glass has special absorption, transmission, and reflection abilities for light and heat, and can achieve significant energy-saving effects when used in building exterior windows, glass curtain walls, etc. The commonly used energy-saving decorative glass in buildings includes heat absorbing glass, heat reflecting glass, and insulating glass.

2. Introduction to Heat Absorbing Glass

Heat absorbing glass is a flat glass that can absorb a large amount of infrared radiation energy and maintain a high visible light transmittance. There are two methods for producing endothermic glass: one is to add a certain amount of colorants with endothermic properties to the raw materials of ordinary sodium calcium silicate glass; Another method is to spray one or more layers of metal or metal oxide thin films on the surface of flat glass.

Heat-absorbing glass comes in shades of gray, brown, blue, green, bronze, pink, and gold. There are four thicknesses available: 2, 3, 5, and 6mm. Heat absorbing glass can also be further processed into polished, tempered, laminated or hollow glass.

3. Introduction to Heat Reflective Glass

Thermal reflective glass is a flat glass with high thermal reflective ability while maintaining good transparency. It is coated with metal or metal oxide films such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, chromium, nickel, and iron on the surface of the glass using pyrolysis, vacuum evaporation, cathode sputtering, etc., or by using electric float plasma exchange method to replace the original ions on the surface of the glass to form a thermal reflective film.

The thermal reflective glass has a high thermal reflectivity. For example, the total reflective heat of 6mm thick float glass is only 16%. Under the same conditions, the total reflective heat of the heat absorbing glass is 40%, while the thermal reflective glass can be as high as 61%. Therefore, it is often made into insulating glass or laminated glass to increase its thermal insulation performance. The thermal reflective glass coated with metal film also has the function of unidirectional image transmission, which means that outdoor scenery can be seen indoors during the day, while indoor scenery cannot be seen outdoors.

4. Introduction to Hollow Glass

Due to the formation of a certain thickness of gas layer between two pieces of glass, the flow of air or other gas layers in the middle is restricted, thereby reducing the convective and conductive heat transfer of the glass. Therefore, it has good insulation and thermal insulation capabilities. At the same time, the single piece of insulating glass can also use coated glass and other energy-saving glass, which can concentrate the advantages of these glass on the insulating glass and thus play a better energy-saving role.

5. Selection and procurement of energy-saving glass

When choosing to use energy-saving glass, the type of glass should be determined based on the geographical location of the building. Glass in severe and cold regions should mainly control heat conduction, and hollow glass should be chosen as much as possible; In areas with hot summer and cold winter, as well as areas with hot summer and warm winter, efforts should be made to control the entry of solar energy into the interior to reduce air conditioning load. It is recommended to choose heat reflective glass, heat absorbing glass, hollow glass composed of heat reflective glass or heat absorbing glass, and sunshade type hollow glass.
